ProNox® Nitrous Oxide System

​Overview:
ProNox® administers a 50/50 mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen, providing a safe, quick-onset analgesic effect popularly described as a ‘happy drunk’ feeling. This system allows patients to self-administer the gas, ensuring comfort and control during medical procedures.
 
Experience:
Patients typically experience:
  • Light-headedness followed by a tingling sensation in the limbs.
  • Warm sensations, euphoria, and a floating feeling.
  • Diminished sensitivity to pain and other sensations.
 
Safety and Side Effects:
ProNox® is equipped with advanced safety features to ensure a balanced delivery:
  • On-Demand Valve: Activates only upon inhalation.
  • Safety Alarms: Audible and visual indicators for gas monitoring.
  • Safety Shut-off: Engages if gas pressure falls below safe delivery levels.
  • Side effects may include dizziness, nausea, or light-headedness, typically subsiding quickly after treatment.
 
Usage Indications and Contraindications:
ProNox® is suitable for patients undergoing medical procedures, with cost-effective options for reusing personal mouthpieces. Not recommended for patients with certain conditions like COPD, pregnancy, or those unable to hold the device themselves.
 
Cost:
Initial use: $125 (includes a personal mouthpiece).
Subsequent uses: Free if using the same mouthpiece, $50 for a new tube.
